Reputation

In business, reputation is everything and it’s a direct reflection of one’s character.

How do we differentiate ourselves from others?

Trust is the currency of life and the best tool in business.

Be of such high character that when people talk about you, they will say you are the person everyone can trust. God wants us to become people of integrity, never getting too close to the line or the edge.

Having good character is a foundational kingdom principle and the byproduct is seen in our reputation. Everyone will be known for something – what will you be known for?

“A sterling reputation is better than striking it rich; a gracious spirit is better than money in the bank.” – Proverbs 22:1(MSG)

What does it mean to have zero tolerance for risk in my reputation?

It doesn’t mean we are soft or a punching bag, it means that we are intentionally fair in all our dealings. We don’t take advantage of people just because we can.

Matthew 10:16 says, I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves.

One of the greatest ways that will keep our reputation strong is simply by paying the people we owe – vendors, subcontractors, clients, etc. This gives credibility in your reputation with others when you hold up your end by paying on time what is owed.

When we do this and more, we will build a reputation that will speak volumes about who Jesus is.

Proverbs 3:27 (MSG) –“Don’t tell your neighbor “Maybe some other time” or “Try me tomorrow” when the money’s right there in your pocket…”
