Purpose in the Pain: How to refocus in overwhelming times.

Pain makes things difficult to see at times.

Are you walking through a difficult time in your life? Are you having a hard time seeing the purpose in your pain or trial?

When things get difficult or hard it can be easy to think we have missed our God given purpose.  However, our purpose is not anchored to our circumstances, but to our God.  During a challenging time, God uses Jeremiah to remind his people that he is still in control and still has a plan to prosper them.

In Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Another translation says it like this, “I alone know the plans I have for you, plans to bring you prosperity and not disaster, plans to bring about the future you hope for.” (GNT).

But if you keep reading in verse 12, God gives the key to discovering purpose during challenging times…

“Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.”

Simply put, the key is to get alone with God.

Even in the most difficult times or our biggest area of pain, God still has a purpose for our life, and he can turn it around for good. Alone time with God his how we can find purpose in our pain. It’s how we can find out the intimate details God has planned for us – he doesn’t have secrets FROM us, but he has secrets FOR us.

This is the best investment you can make.
