Why Credibility and Responsibility are so Important in Business

Credibility and Responsibility

There are many distinct qualities of an Ambassador but I have found that they all can be contained in two simple thoughts: Credibility and Responsibility. They are qualities that will radically impact your workplace and the people that you work with.

What does it mean to be an ambassador for Christ in the workplace?  As a Christian we are appointed by God:

We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.

Credibility

Credibility is like rocket fuel to a relationship.  It means that you can be trusted and believed.  It means that your words and actions line up with each other.  The word credibility shares it’s roots with the word Creed and Credit.  One is something you might find in a church that teaches you what to believe and the other allows you to do business because there is something in the bank that backs up your promise and ability to fulfill your duties.   Our character is key to building credibility. It is because of our credibility that we are given responsibility.

Responsibility

As an ambassador, responsibility is a two-way street.  In one context we have a responsibility to whoever we represent. As a Christian that is God.  It is an awesome privilege to represent God and I am thankful for grace and prayer that allows me to remain firm and not overwhelmed by this.  It means that in all my business interactions I don’t just represent my own ideas and that my own ambition is not the mission. The other aspect of being an ambassador is the empowerment you walk in. An ambassador has access to the full resources of the sending authority.  This is true for you on the job and has been my testimony.  It allows us to experience what I call Supernatural Business.

But you will receive power and ability when the Holy Spirit comes upon you; and you will be My witnesses [to tell people about Me] both in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and Samaria, and even to the ends of the earth.”
